The long-distance event, which will recapture the golden age of rallying through Africa, takes in a huge variety of spectacular special stages, totalling 1444 competitive kilometres.
The gravel test track near Paris where some of the drivers tried out their cars in front of the world's media was a long way - both geographically and culturally - from Morocco, but it gave people an exciting taste of the action to come.
Michele Mouton had her first taste of the 2.7-litre Porsche 911 prepared by Tuthill Porsche that she will drive on the Rallye International du Maroc, completing several laps of the gravel test complex owned by former Citroen factory driver Philippe Wambergue.
"I'm really looking forward to the Rallye International du Maroc, as it's an event that I never got the chance to contest when it was in its heyday," she said. "Now, several years later, I finally get the chance! Of course, I've driven the Safari Rally a few times but I think the roads in Morocco will be very different."
Mouton - the winner of four World Rally Championship events - will be re-united with her long-time co-driver Fabrizia Pons on the event. "It will be fun to be back with Fabrizia - but the problem is then that the real competitive feeling will come back again, with her in the car! In the end though, my aim is just to have fun and I'm sure that we will achieve that."
As well as Mouton, the other drivers at the Maroc media day included former Cross Country champion Bruno Saby and two-time Rallye International du Maroc winner Bob Neyret.
Saby will drive a Peugeot 504 belonging to Jean-Pierre Nicolas, while Neyret will drive a Citroen DS, which he put through his paces at the Wambergue complex.
"I have so many great memories of this rally and also this car," said Neyret. "Driving it here today makes me look forward to the rally even more. Maybe the DS is not what people think of straight away when they think of a rally car, but in Africa it was always extremely effective."
More than 20 international media representatives attended the event, enjoying their chance to ride alongside the stars.
Paul-Eric Jarry, the president of the organising committee, said: "It was great to see so many fantastic cars and drivers present at our event, giving us a flavour of the action to come in October. I'd like to thank everybody for their interest, and especially the Wambergue family for making their fantastic stages available to us. We look forward now to welcoming everybody to Morocco, which is sure to be a tough rally but also a rewarding one for everybody concerned."
